This container is massive and beautiful. The Five wicks burn easily and evenly. The smell of smokey wood fires fill the house with comfort and joy. I love it. It's another hit with me from Diptique.

What a beautiful, strange candle. Oddly comforting.
I am extremely moved by scents around me. Nothing signals the beginning of my favorite time of year like this candle. As much as I enjoy all of the apple cider/maple/caramel/bakery scented candles that seem to flood the market this time of year, what really tells me that Autumn has arrived is waking outside and smelling burning log fires, wet leaves, and that crisp quality to the air that rustles through the trees.
This candle is all that and more. The scent of a fireplace with some sort of balsam, resinous, evergreen quality... not a dry, or caustic fire by any means. There is no throat-clutching quality to this one. This is warm and comforting, and when I say it smells like a fireplace, I mean it truly feels as though you are curled up on your favorite sofa, listening to the crackle-snap of the logs and listening to the shower of embers as they fall.
The scent lingers for hours after the candle is extinguished. I burned it for 2 hours last night and woke up to the scent still present this morning.
This scent would make a superb gift for man and woman alike. Not floral, not fussy, just very warm and familiar, yet completely unique and unexpected. This particular candle would make an exceptional gift for someone with discriminating tastes, whom you were looking to spoil a bit.
For me, worth every single penny. I have finished one this size in the past and use the very large and beautiful holder to house rolled face cloths in the bathroom.
